Palazzo Marchi

The most fascinating building of the Eighteenth century, parmesan cheese, and the San Rocco by Parmigianino

Category: ,

Attention: bookable visits are exclusively in Italian language

The museum of Palazzo Brands, the most fascinating Eighteenth century palace of Parma, is ready to welcome visitors and to accompany them in a journey through the history and art that made the duchy of bourbon, a cultural beacon of the Europa moderna.

Inside the rooms, in addition to the beautiful ceilings decorated with stucco by Giocondo Albertolli, you will find the collection of works of the family: paintings, furniture, sculptures, tableware, engravings and prints that will tell you all about the fervent cultural context, sponsored by the Academy of Fine Arts of Parma. An institution that in the second half of the Eighteenth century, under the guidance of teachers such as the architect Ennemond Alexandre Petitot, was one of the great forges of the artistic talents of the Italian.

By November 2023, the permanent collection is enhanced with the San Rocco in a landscape, painted by Parmigianino, who will go to further enhance not only the visit of the Palace, but, more in general, the cultural offer of the city of Parma, who shows very little evidence of the painting on the easel performed by Francesco Mazzola.
